Relational Accountability Charlie Hall It doesn't take much to notice the move of praise and worship music on our country. Young worship leaders are popping up everywhere. Even the very young aspire to be worship leaders. This is a phenomenal time in church history. My desire then is to help teach the whole life of worship and not just the up front stage life of worship so that the people around me understand that worship is your very life.
There are many things that have assisted me in my whole life of worship, the main one being relational accountability. I have found the best place for this is by staying deeply connected to my local church body. To me, this has meant purposefully surrounding myself with elder, peer, and younger friends that love God deeply and walk in character and integrity. In the short time I have been doing ministry and leading worship I have had incredible friends and leaders around me to offer emotional and spiritual help. The more I give myself to these friends by showing the ugly parts of my heart and the triumphs of my life, the more they are unimpressed with me. That sounds strange but if it keeps you real and down from the pedestal it is a part of God's heart. Humble submission to leaders and friends can release power in your life to overcome, and fosters the increase of your anointing and skill.
As you are learning to lead worship, give yourself to relational accountability. Let your leaders and friends bear their heart to you about your life and the way you lead worship. Humbly submit and don't detest their honesty. The psalmist David could even submit and learn from a demonized king. Submission and relationship will sharpen you and open your heart for God's purposes. Source: www.charliehall.com
